翡翠美洲鱥(学名:Notropis atherinoides),为辐鳍鱼纲鲤形目雅罗鱼科的其中一种,分布于北美洲加拿大至美国德克萨斯州淡水流域[2],本鱼体细长呈长椭圆形且侧扁,眼大,口斜近下位,侧面呈银色祖母绿颜色,背部和上侧呈翠绿色至稻草色,腹部银白色,鳃盖底面灰色,[3] 体侧中央有一条银带,尾鳍叉形,鱼鳍透明,臀鳍鳍条9-12枚、35-43个侧线鳞片,体长可达13公分,通常出现在沙石底质、水质清澈大而深的湖泊和河流中,能容忍低溶氧量的水域,[4]属杂食性,以浮游动物和昆虫、硅藻[5][6][7],在水面附近聚集成大群,是一种很常见的鱼,繁殖期在春季及夏季,经常被用作饵料鱼。
