Monroe Township is one of the twenty-two townships of Knox County, 俄亥俄州, 美國. The 2000 census found 2,427 people in the township.[3]
地理
[編輯]Located in the center of the county, 與以下鎮區接壤:
- Pike Township - 北
- Brown Township - 北east corner
- Howard Township - 東
- Harrison Township - 東南 corner, east of College Township
- College Township - 東南, west of Harrison Township
- Pleasant Township - 南west, east of Clinton Township
- Clinton Township - 南west, west of Pleasant Township
- Morris Township - 西
Part of the city of Mount Vernon, the county seat of Knox County, is located in southwestern Monroe Township.
Name and history
[編輯]Monroe Township was established in 1825.[4] It is named for James Monroe, fifth President of the United States.[5]
It is one of twenty-two Monroe Townships statewide.[6]
By the 1830s, Monroe Township had a number of productive mills built along Schenck Creek.[7]
政府
[編輯]鎮區有3人組成的理事會管理。理事會理事選舉在奇數年11月舉行,並在來年1月1日開始四年任期。兩名理事的選舉在總統選舉後一年舉行,另一名的選舉在總統選舉前一年舉行。鎮區財務官亦由選舉產生[8],與一名鎮區理事選舉同時舉行,不過在來年4月1日才開始四年任期。若財務官或理事職位有空缺,將由剩餘理事填補。
