声名大噪

[编辑]入行初期达林为康妮·弗朗西斯（英语：Connie Francis）创作歌曲。于1958年，他灌录了首张百万销量的单曲《Splish Splash》，接着推出的歌曲是《Dream Lover》、《Mack the Knife》和《Beyond the Sea》，这令他于世界乐坛声名大噪[1]。于1959年更获得“格莱美最佳新人奖”，是格莱美第一届颁授这类奖项[2]。
作为演员
[编辑]1962年，他凭第一部主演的电影《Come September》夺得了金球奖的“年度新星（演员）”[3]，参演的影星还有他的第一任妻子桑德拉·迪伊（英语：Sandra Dee）。1964年，达林在电影《Captain Newman, M.D.》的演出获得肯定，于第36届奥斯卡金像奖获“最佳男配角奖”提名[4]。
事业后期
[编辑]整个六十年代，达林变得更加积极参与政治，并致力于罗拔·甘迺迪的民主党总统竞选。1968年6月5日凌晨，甘迺迪遇刺的时候，他在洛杉矶大使酒店现场[5]。同年，他发现养大他的人是祖父母，而不是父母亲，而那位他以为是姊姊的原来是他的母亲。这些事深刻地影响达林，后来他隐居了整整一年时间。
1972年，巴比·达林于电视节目复出。虽然获得成功，他的健康状况开始下滑，亦在他意料之内，因为童年时曾多次风湿热发作[6]，身体虚弱。对这方面的了解更促使他趁年轻的时候，展示音乐才华。1973年12月20日他于心臓手术后逝世，享年三十七岁。
奖项殊荣
