唐纳德·哈里斯

唐纳德·贾斯柏斯·哈里斯(英语:Donald Jasper Harris,1938年8月23日)是牙买加裔美国经济学家、斯坦福大学名誉教授,以其将后凯因斯主义思想应用于发展经济学而著称。[1]他是首位在斯坦福大学经济系获得终身教职的黑人学者,也是现任美国副总统2024年民主党总统候选人贺锦丽及律师马娅·哈里斯的父亲。

早年生活和教育

哈里斯出生于牙买加圣安娜区,在西印度群岛大学学院接受教育,随后取得伦敦大学学士学位,并在加州大学柏克莱分校获得经济学博士学位。哈里斯在斯坦福大学任职之前,曾在伊利诺伊大学厄巴纳-香槟分校西北大学威斯康辛大学麦迪逊分校担任教职。

1978年,他出版了《资本累积和收入分配》一书,批判主流经济学理论,并运用数学模型提出另一种模型来研究资本累积对收入不平等、经济增长及经济不稳定的影响。[2]哈里斯在牙买加的经济分析和政策研究领域有广泛贡献,并多次担任该国政府及多位总理的经济政策顾问。[3][4][5]2021年,哈里斯因“对国家发展的贡献”获得牙买加第三高的国家荣誉勋章[3][6]

家庭

1961年秋,哈里斯凭借伊萨奖学金前往加州大学伯克利分校[7]1962年秋末,他在美国黑人协会的一次会议上发表演讲。演讲结束后,他遇到了台下的沙亚马拉·戈帕兰,她是来自印度的加州大学伯克利分校营养学与内分泌学研究生。[7]哈里斯回忆说:“我们当时就开始了对话,并在随后的几次会议上继续讨论。”[7]两人于1963年7月结婚。[7]
