Caudalpeduncle 2-J- to 3 times as long as deep, as long as or a little shorter MAKCUSENIUS. S3 than head. 55-65 scales in lateral line, !-;J£ in transverse series on 12-13 body, jg-jg in transverse series between dorsal and anal, 12 round caudalpeduncle. Brown above, silvery white below, more or less speckledwith darker; an ill-defined dark bar, extending obliquely from origin ofdorsal to that of anal, sometimes present; dorsal fin, and sometimesalso anal, brownish in front.
