English: Muhammed Anas Y, Seaman (Under trainee) of the Indain Navy, won a Gold medal in the men's 400 metre run with a timing of 45.77 seconds in the 22nd Asian Athletics Championship held at Bhubaneshwar on 07 July 2017. An Indian athlete has won a Gold medal in the 400 metre event after a gap of 42 years. Muhammed Anas has already qualified for the World Athletics Championship scheduled at London, UK from 04 to 13 August 2017. Anas also won 400 metre Gold medal at the Taipei Grand Prix last month. Muhammed Anas is presently the national record holder in the event and also the only Indian to run the quarter mile race in less than 46 seconds on more than 10 occasions.
Tajinder Singh Toor, Acting Petty Officer (PTI) of the Indian Navy, won a Silver medal in the men’s shot put event with the distance of 19.77 metres in the 22nd Asian Athletics Championship at Bhubaneshwar on 07 July 2017. Jabir MP, Communicator Second Class, of the Indian Navy, won a Bronze medal in men's 400 metre hurdles, with a timing of 50.22 seconds, at the 22nd Asian Athletics Championship at Bhubaneshwar on 08 July 2017. This was the first international race for Jabir and the young athlete recorded his best timing ever. Jabir also won a Gold medal in same event at the Federation Cup held in June 2017 at Patiala.
