1950年8月12日出生于怀俄明州拉勒米。父亲是会计师有三个妺妺，就读中央奥克拉荷马大学。

个人生活

1973年8月，在大学的学生时候曾与同学Debbie结婚，但四个月后便分居，1976年离婚。几年后，他搬到加州与儿时朋友的演员Hank Worden一起居往。1989年比弗为期四年的追求，与女演员Cecily Adams结婚，2001年比弗与Cecily Adams诞下了女儿，但最后比弗的妻子Cecily Adams在2004年3月3日死于肺癌。
